Topic :
Mapping and Beyond: Adding Geospatial Capabilities to Java Applications

Description :

Thanks to online services such as Google, Yahoo!, and MapQuest, mapping and other geospatial capabilities have grown tremendously in popularity and use within applications. Additionally, mobile device capabilities are increasing at a dramatic rate, and services like Google Latitude and Yahoo! FireEagle are eliminating barriers to use location in combination with web-based mapping services. It's now possible to merge these technologies together to build services that respond to how people, places, and other objects interact and move around. Whether adding a map or implementing a complete location-based service, developers have a number of tools available to them now.

This talk provides an introduction to the geospatial capabilities available today, then shows how to add mapping and location-based capabilities to Java applications. We'll cover a range of Java and JavaScript tools, including several demonstrations and code examples showing how to add these capabilities to an application.
