Case Study: Developing a Custom eWallet Solution for the International Casino Gaming Industry

Our latest case study features the work Intertech did for ICP, an international payments processor. Over the course of five months, our senior consultant Tim Star led an agile team in the development of a new eWallet application and API for use in the casino gaming industry. With a minimum product already live and the client’s internal development team working on a roadmap Intertech helped develop, Intertech greatly expanded ICP’s development expertise, experience, and leadership on a tight timeline.
Agile, Results-Oriented Development
This project involved the creation of a custom API and two new mobile applications (iPhone and Android), all hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud. Our consultant led a team of internal developers in ICP’s local office as well as offshore developers around the world. Under the consultant’s guidance and coordination, the teams worked on two-week sprints to design, develop, and improve a minimum viable product. After each sprint, the teams were available to respond to the client’s feedback and even change priorities as needed.
This was no small task considering the number of regulations that surround the payments and casino gaming industries. Navigating overlapping local, state, and federal laws was a critical part of creating a compliant application and API. Security, user privacy, and mitigating risk was a top priority throughout the development process.
Additionally, this project needed the ability to scale to handle large transaction numbers. Initial estimates from the client indicated that roughly 200,000 users would interact with the application, generating over half a million transactions per day. The API, apps, and backend needed to keep this scale in mind throughout the development process to create a solution that could grow as its user base did.
After a quick development cycle, the initial product is now live. ICP’s internal development team continues to work on added features, following the suggestions and groundwork Intertech gave. The fast turnaround allowed the client to quickly and decisively enter a new market with a unique, custom developed offering that sets them apart from the competition.
