Project Requirements
Our client came to Intertech seeking assistance in moving their current prototype, m.melon.com, to a jQuery Mobile and HTML5 solution. At first glance, MelOn functions much like iTunes, but was actually one of the first services to embrace the concept of ubiquitous music delivered to any device. Great emphasis was placed on visual transitions between list views and page navigation. Then, due to Appleʼs iconic page turn being trademarked halfway through the project, Intertech’s developers had to adjust the album view transition style to look less like the Appleʼs. Most companies would have had to extend the deadline to make up for “lost work”, due to the trademark issues. Intertech, however, was able to deliver a solution on time and within budget.
Result
Intertechʼs work resulted in a smooth transition for the client from a prototype to a working music platform service using jQuery and HTML5. We delivered a successful project on time and within budget, even when unforeseen circumstances arose.
Overview
Intertech utilized numerous forms of communications to keep the project on track, including; Skype, conference calls, emails, daily huddles, and screen share. Despite the relatively short project timeline and last-minute changes needed, due to unforeseen trademark issues, Intertech was able to quickly adjust to new requests from the client throughout the project by using the proven agile process. Intertech also leveraged HTML5 and the jQuery Mobile web framework to deliver on MelOnʼs new mobile web application effectively. The application included reusable templates for each page type, a custom animated album view, a slim global JavaScript library to handle device and browser capabilities, and various UI widgets.
