Custom eWallet For The Gaming Industry
Project Requirements
A global eWallet Payment Solutions company for the International Casino Gaming industry needed to quickly onboard expert talent in specific skill areas to bring about their vision to create a custom eWallet for the gaming industry. It would have taken months to hire the requisite skills onto their internal development team. Additionally, this new initiative was structured as a startup environment where the goal was to move quickly, build a minimum viable product, and test the product with the market as soon as possible, so hiring full-time employees wasn’t a good fit.
Result
Intertech provided a team of consultants that possessed the necessary skills to accomplish those goals under an agile development methodology.
Overview
The custom application needed to transfer credit card funds to an eWallet that players could then use for casino games. Payments and credit card transactions are highly regulated, and the project needed to follow stringent, often overlapping, guidelines from local, state, and national officials.
Additionally, the company predicted the new eWallet could be used by up to 200,000 users, with over half a million transactions processed daily. The new custom solution had to be scalable to that level while still maintaining security and regulatory compliance.
Over the course of five months, Intertech’s consultants laid the groundwork and led an internal development team to create a minimum viable product. The solution required building a secure, custom REST API that could handle the expected transaction load. Intertech’s senior consultant guided the team through the process of developing a working product. Both the internal and offshore teams needed to work together closely for the project to succeed. Communication and clear management were important components of running a distributed, agile team.
Rapid augmentation of an internal team is one of Intertech’s strengths. With the on-time delivery of a successful application, the company can now leverage the new eWallet application and API to add additional clients and significantly grow their business in the gaming industry. The unique, custom solution sets them apart from the competition and created an opportunity for strong market penetration.

Intertech Developer
Nathan Lui
Nathan joined in Intertech in 2018 and moved into his current software developer position in May 2019. He previously interned with Intertech and at Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, before being a professional gamer. His technical skills are centered around web development and full stack (.NET/React) development in an Agile environment. The majority of his client work uses Microsoft services for development, including Azure DevOps, SQL and Azure Web Services. Nathan earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota.
“A clever person solves the problem, and a wise person prevents it,” says Nathan. “I try to live and code by this mantra. If we don’t learn from our mistakes—even in software development—we are doomed to repeat them.”
Why Did You Choose Consulting?
“It’s great to use code to solve problems. I enjoy the challenges and working with more experienced Intertech developers. I’m not just increasing my technical knowledge; I’m learning a lot about working with clients.”
Sideline
Nathan is a big fan of Formula 1 and competition. Aside from playing PC games in his spare time, he also enjoys sim racing online. He would like to travel all over the world and experience these racing events live.
