Principal Data Engineer

        SQL Server architect/Principal Data Engineer     
Remote contract and must be authorized to work in the US.

This person will be responsible for operation of the client’s database Servers. They will be working through a backlog of improvement projects and Problem Management tickets to improve stability. 95% of all the applications rely on DBA Team expertise.

Risk: Continue stability issues and delay in improvement projects that include: server upgrades, consolidations, improving backups and monitoring, credential guard security, creating a Romulus non prod environment and assuming responsibility for OSTCS DBs
SQL Operations
-Installing, configuring, and upgrading SQL database software and related applications. Cl
-Ensuring the security of the databases, including managing user accounts and permissions, and monitoring for any suspicious activity or attempted breaches.
-Designing and implementing backup and recovery procedures to ensure that data can be restored in the event of a system failure or data loss
-Indexing and Statistics query plan maintenance

Database design of schemas and structures that are optimized for performance, scalability, and security.

Managing database access for apps: DBAs work with application developers to ensure that applications have the appropriate level of access to the database and its contents.

Performance: DBAs track usage patterns and performance metrics to identify areas where the database may be under stress or in need of optimization.

Skills Required: 5 years of proven experience as a SQL Server architect/Principal Data Engineer with experience in design, implementation, and management of SQL Server High Availability Groups with disaster recovery on SQL Server 2016 or higher.
Architecture and management of enterprise level SQL Server Always-On High Availability groups. (SQL 2016 or higher).
In-depth knowledge of data security with regards to Confidential Unclassified Information.
Deep knowledge of SQL waits, locking, blocking and resource contention.

Extensive experience with change management systems, such as ServiceNow and Jira.

Skills preferred:
Deep knowledge of query plans, statistics, indexes, and ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders about issues and improvements.

Ability to clearly document and communicate changes and improvements to stakeholders.
